Early life

Born in Upper Austria, high school education in Gmunden and University of Vienna; Salzburg Sommerakademie (photography 1975, 1976), Salzburg College (photography workshops) and Visual Studies Workshop (VSW), Rochester, USA, (1980/81): photography, bookmaking, video, practical training in the VSW gallery.

Professional life

Spent 25 years abroad:

Malaysia: Austrian Embassy (1973-1976); exhibition of photographs at Goethe Institute, Kuala Lumpur (1978). Various publications of photographs and photo journalism.

NYC (1981 - 1990) UNHQ (1983-1990); exhibition of photographs at UNHQ (1989), Namibia (UN election monitor, 1989), Nicaragua (UN election monitor, 1990).

Pakistan/Afghanistan (UN 1990-2000): Founding and board member of SPACH (Society for the Preservation of Afghanistan's Cultural Heritage, 1992 - 2001). Editor of seven SPACH Newsletters.

Back home in Austria since 2001

Founding of Austria-Afghanistan Society in Vienna (2002). Exhibitions of Pakistani contemporary art in Vienna and Liezen, Austria. Assisted Mr. Hosain Bakhsh in the construction of Austrian hospital in Dahane Djarf, 80 km northwest of Kabul, Afghanistan (2004 - 2007). Member of Women in Black (Vienna).
